Jay is a third-generation Houstonian. Raised by a physician-turned-CEO, he has always been immersed in both medicine and business. While he finds both fascinating, his favorite subject has been writing since he first picked up a pencil.
Jay is a proud Longhorn with a B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin. While at Texas, he wrote, directed, and produced numerous full-length original plays. He also performed frequently with the University’s oldest improv comedy troupe. As a natural storyteller passionate about advocacy and the art of language, he decided in college that law school just made sense.
Jay earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston, where he excelled in Moot Court and Mock Trial. He won numerous brief-writing awards and placed first in his class for every legal writing course he took. In his third year, Jay was selected to an invitation-only Appellate Litigation Clinic working on Houston Community College v. Wilson, which secured a unanimous favorable verdict in the Supreme Court of the United States. He was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Scribes upon his graduation.
As an attorney, Jay has handled a diverse and robust civil litigation docket. He is a fierce, thoughtful advocate for his clients. He thoroughly enjoys the adversarial process, winning critical arguments both on paper and in the courtroom. Approaching his work with equal parts commitment, creativity, and common courtesy, Jay attributes his success to his training and upbringing. He was raised to work hard and be kind; he was trained to win.
